14-year-old arrested after stolen vehicle crashes in Mechanicsburg, passenger flees
A 14-year-old Mechanicsburg juvenile was arrested after a stolen vehicle fled a traffic stop, crashed into a culvert and the passenger fled on foot; the vehicle had been taken from a Madison Drive residence where it was left unlocked with keys inside.
On July 31, 2026, at about 1:17 a.m., officers attempted a traffic stop at North Walnut Street and Brandy Lane; the vehicle fled, crashed into a culvert behind Golden Court residences in Upper Allen Township, and the driver and front-seat passenger ran. Police located and arrested the 14-year-old male driver from Mechanicsburg, transported him to the hospital for evaluation of what were believed to be minor injuries, and later released him to his parents; charges will be filed with Cumberland County Juvenile Probation. Investigators determined the vehicle had been stolen from a home on the 100 block of Madison Drive after being left unlocked with the keys inside, and the passenger remains unidentified — anyone with information is asked to contact the department.
