Batavia Police Remind Dog Owners to Follow Leash Laws and Safety Rules
City reminder to keep dogs leashed (max 6 feet), licensed and vaccinated, prevent roaming and follow state and city laws.
The Batavia Police Department is urging dog owners to comply with city code requiring dogs to be on a leash no longer than 6 feet in public, to be licensed and vaccinated, and to be prevented from running at large. Owners of aggressive or dangerous dogs must follow the Vicious/Dangerous Dogs Law (Agriculture & Markets Law) and take steps—such as obedience training, secure fencing and immediate action after incidents—to prevent future occurrences; failure to comply can result in fines and penalties.
