Berks County law enforcement warn of increased fraud and scam activity countywide, including bank impersonation, grandparent/emergency scams using cloned voices, employment and quick-loan schemes, business-closing cons, scrap metal theft, and check-washing. Residents are advised to stop and verify requests, never move money at someone else’s direction, avoid clicking unexpected links, block and report suspicious contacts, and contact local law enforcement and their bank immediately if they suspect fraud.
