On Saturday, Oct. 24, Bucks County residents safely discarded 10,805.91 pounds of expired or unneeded medications and 802.28 pounds of sharps across 49 county collection sites as part of the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. District Attorney Joe Khan noted the total — more than 11,600 pounds when combined — represented a 12% increase from earlier this year; since 2010 the county has removed 274,173.29 pounds of medication. Seven event locations distributed fifty free NARCAN (naloxone) nasal spray kits, and residents can request free NARCAN through the Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission (215-444-2700 or [email protected]); 45 permanent anonymous drop boxes (including in five of six county hospitals) accept year‑round disposal and locations are listed at www.bcdac.org.
