Deltona man arrested in Greenborough Loop shooting
A road-rage confrontation in a Deland-area subdivision on Aug. 13, 2026, escalated to gunfire; a suspect was arrested Sept. 17 following review of vehicle surveillance.
DeLand police say a road-rage confrontation on Aug. 13, 2026, in the under-construction Greenborough Loop subdivision led to an exchange of gunfire, leaving a male garbage truck driver shot in the left thigh and airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center for emergency surgery. Detectives reviewed surveillance from both vehicles and initially detained three people; on Sept. 17 the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant and took 35-year-old Johnathan Javon Figueroa of Deltona into custody. Figueroa is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon and discharging a firearm in public; he was booked Sept. 17 and assigned a $12,000 bond.
