East Lansdowne Police Warn Seniors of Common Scams
Police warn older residents to be alert for gift card demands, tech support, grandparent and government impersonation scams and explain how to respond.
The East Lansdowne Police Department urges residents—especially senior citizens—to remain vigilant against common scams including "phantom hacker" alerts, grandparent schemes, government impersonation, tech support, lottery/sweepstakes, and romance scams. Officials warn that legitimate agencies will never demand payment by gift card, cryptocurrency, wire transfer, or unknown payment apps and advise hanging up, withholding personal information, contacting a trusted family member, and reporting suspicious activity. If you believe you have been targeted, contact the East Lansdowne Police Department immediately.
