Elayna Mae Sanders Arrested for Aggravated Assault at Holy Spirit Hospital

On August 8, 2026, at about 4:46 a.m., 19-year-old Elayna Mae Sanders, admitted to Holy Spirit Hospital for a mental health assessment, became violent in the ER and began hitting herself and yelling. During attempts to restrain her she allegedly tried to bite an ER technician on the right arm and scratched and pinched the technician’s right leg, causing visible redness; Sanders was fully restrained and sedated and is charged with aggravated assault. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
