Eutawville man arrested after 9mm, suspected drugs found in traffic stop
Officers say a seatbelt stop near Otranto Road led to the discovery of a loaded 9mm and suspected drug packaging after a strong odor of marijuana was detected.
North Charleston Police arrested 22-year-old Quamaine Rakim Council of Eutawville on Aug. 23, 2026, after a seatbelt stop near Otranto Road and S. Antler Drive. Officers reported smelling marijuana, and Council allegedly told them he had a concealed firearm; a search turned up a loaded 9mm (15 rounds in the magazine, one in the chamber) plus green plant-like material and empty packages consistent with narcotics distribution. Because of a prior felony conviction, Council was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
