Parkesburg Borough Police warn drivers that OASD students' first official day is Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, and outline penalties for passing stopped school buses and speeding in active school zones.
The Octorara Area School District’s first official day is Tuesday, August 25, 2026; motorists should allow extra time as school buses return to roadways. Under 75 Pa.C.S. § 3345, passing a stopped school bus with red lights and an extended stop arm carries a $250 fine, $35 surcharge, five license points and a mandatory 60-day suspension; bus drivers may report violations. When school zone lights are flashing on the OASD campus, the speed limit is 15 mph and will be enforced with enhanced penalties.
