Hazleton Police Assist Relocation of 'Tent City' Residents
Officers cleared a camp on private property slated for construction and coordinated with local organizations to connect residents with shelters, treatment and animal care.
Hazleton City Police assisted with clearing an area known as “Tent City” on private property after the owner provided approximately three months' notice ahead of planned construction. Rather than only enforcing the property owner's request, officers reached out to local partners — including Volunteers of America, CEO, Catholic Social Services, New Roots, the Willow Foundation, Clear Vision Treatment Center and Susquehanna Warrior Reserves — to connect individuals with shelters, treatment, resources and arrange care and vaccinations for animals.
