Hunker man charged with arson after lit device thrown at Mount Pleasant home
Police say a lit incendiary device was thrown onto a Washington Street porch; gasoline residue and video evidence tied a Hunker man to the scene.
Jeffrey May, 22, of Hunker, is charged after police say he threw a lit incendiary device onto the back porch of a Washington Street residence in Mount Pleasant around 1 a.m. Responding officers found the smell of gasoline, charring on the concrete and a plastic water bottle containing gasoline nearby; a witness and surveillance footage reportedly tied May—who had been in an earlier altercation with a tenant in a Wendy’s parking lot—to the incident. He faces charges including arson of an inhabited building, attempted aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and loitering and prowling at night.
