Incident Blotter: Sept. 11–17, 2026 — Newtown Township
Police warn of a jury-duty impersonation scam; several domestic-assault reports and a store employee assault were also logged during the week.
On Sept. 11 a resident reported a phone scam in which a caller impersonating a Bucks County Sheriff claimed there was a federal case for failing jury duty and demanded two $5,000 payments be dropped off at another location; the caller reassured the resident they would get the money back, and no monetary loss occurred. The scam was attempted two other times that week and police reminded the public that officers will not ask for cash at drop-box locations to resolve fines or warrants. Separately, Newtown Township police filed simple-assault charges after domestic disturbances on Sept. 12 (one adult, one juvenile) and Sept. 13 (one adult), and an assault at McCaffrey’s on Sept. 15—where an employee was allegedly assaulted by a delivery driver—is under investigation.
