Man accused of trying to open bank account with false ID

Police say a 53-year-old Illinois man gave someone else’s identification while attempting to open a bank account and later admitted his real name.

An Illinois man is accused of using false identification in an attempt to open an account at a local financial institution.

Lower Saucon Township Police sayd 53-year-old Nathaniel Man Coles of Chicago visited the Embassy Bank branch on Rt. 378 June 10, where he allegedly provided someone else’s identification to staff.

“After being transported to headquarters, he was interviewed and eventually provided his real name, admitting to attempting to open the account using someone else’s identification,” police said in a post published on their Crimewatch site.

According to police, Coles said he was supposed to be paide $1,000 by an unknown individual for his help with opening the account.

Coles is charged with third-degree felony access device fraud as well as misdemeanor theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking and false identification to law enforcement.

According to police and court records, he was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail following a preliminary arraignment before District Judge Robert Weber.

A preliminary hearing before Judge Weber is scheduled for June 23 at 10 a.m.

Coles is being represented by the Northampton County Public Defender’s office, according to the court docket filed in the case.
