Marple welfare check finds deceased resident and malnourished pets
Officers forced entry after failing to make contact; malnourished pets were removed and turned over to rescue groups while the Medical Examiner investigates.
On Saturday, August 15 at 3:30 p.m., Marple police were sent to the 2000 block of West Chester Pike for a welfare check after uncollected mail and an unanswered home; with assistance from Broomall Fire Company, officers forced entry and found the 67-year-old female resident deceased. Several malnourished dogs and cats were removed and secured before being turned over to two animal rescue organizations, and the Delaware County Office of the Medical Examiner responded to investigate the cause of death and assist with family notification; officers cleared the scene after several hours.
