Mount Airy man charged after Ephrata hit-and-run injures 83-year-old
Police say a pickup struck an 83-year-old woman on S. Reading Rd. and fled; a tip led officers to a vehicle with matching damage and the arrest of a Maryland man.
On Sept. 29, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., a dark-colored pickup truck struck an 83-year-old woman walking south in the 100 block of S. Reading Rd. in Ephrata and fled the scene. Lancaster County Crash Team assisted investigators; after an online tip the next day, police located a vehicle with matching damage and identified the driver as George Stutz, 64, of Mount Airy, Maryland. Stutz was charged with Accidents Involving Personal Injury, arraigned by MDJ Landis at Lancaster County Prison and committed on $50,000 cash bail; he is presumed innocent.
