Neta Bomani to Speak on Art, Archives and the Politics of Access
Bomani explores how archives, libraries and independent publishing reflect power, access and historical violence, particularly in relation to Black life.
On Thurs., April 23, Neta Bomani will give a talk as part of the Arts, Democracy, and Technology Forum. Bomani is the co-director of programs at the School for Poetic Computation and co-director of Sojourners for Justice Press. Bomani is also the co-founder of the Black Zine Fair. The talk will examine archives, public domain materials, and libraries as contested infrastructures shaped by power, access, and historical violence—particularly in relation to Black life. Through a series of case studies spanning abolitionist publishing, radical print culture, and contemporary zine practices, Bomani will trace how independent publishing and archival work function as strategies of counter-record and collective memory-making. 4:30-6 p.m. Thurs., April 23 • Skillman Library, Gendebien Room • MORE
