NW Colorado SWAT Resolves Craig Barricade; Suspect Arrested

A regional SWAT team resolved a barricade incident in Craig after negotiators and diversionary devices; the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without injuries.

On August 22, 2026, Craig police responded near E 6th St and Washington St to serve a felony domestic violence warrant for Antonio Archuleta. After firearms were located inside and Archuleta refused to exit, the NWCO SWAT team (Craig PD, Moffat County SO, Routt County SO, Steamboat Springs PD and Hayden PD) was activated; negotiators texted with him and two NFDDs (flashbangs) were deployed. After roughly three hours he surrendered at about 00:38am, was taken into custody without incident, and is held at Moffat County Jail on $30,000 bond facing multiple charges including 2nd-degree assault (strangulation), 3rd-degree assault, domestic violence, failure to leave premises and violations of a protection order; no injuries were reported and all are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
