Richard Willaum-Smith arrested on strangulation and assault charges in Tannersville

On October 11, 2026 at 8:54 a.m., Pocono Township Police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Tannersville. The victim reported being choked and bitten by an ex-boyfriend and showed visible injuries; 24-year-old Richard Willaum-Smith of Lackawaxen was arrested and charged with one count of felony strangulation (18 §2718(a)(1)), one count of simple assault (18 §2701(a)(1)) and one count of harassment (18 §2709(a)(1)). All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
