School Bus Safety Tips for Parents and Students
NHTSA-backed reminders to keep children safe at bus stops and when boarding, riding and exiting the school bus.
Lampeter-Strasburg and other local districts return to class this week; the Strasburg Borough Police Department shares NHTSA safety tips for parents and students. Key recommendations: arrive at the stop five minutes early, wait at least three giant steps (six feet) from the curb, wait for the bus to stop before approaching, use handrails, never walk behind the bus, cross at least five giant steps (10 feet) in front and make eye contact with the driver, and tell the driver if an item is dropped near the bus.
