Social Security COLA announcement: What recipients should know
The Social Security Administration announces an annual cost‑of‑living adjustment; any increase will be reflected in the January 2027 benefit payment.
Since 1975, the Social Security Administration has implemented a yearly Cost of Living Adjustment. The benefit bump – except for 2009, 2010 and 2015 when the COLA was zero – helps prevent inflation from further eroding benefits for 75 million Social Security recipients.
