Summit Police step up Halloween patrols Oct. 23–Nov. 2, 2026
From Oct. 23–Nov. 2, 2026, Summit Police will run extra patrols to promote sober rides, proper restraints and pedestrian safety during Halloween, part of statewide occupant protection efforts.
Beginning October 23 through November 2, 2026, the Summit Police Department will remind motorists to plan for a sober ride home, ensure passengers—especially children—use proper restraints, and watch for pedestrians after dark. The increased patrols will target impaired driving, occupant protection, speeding and distracted driving and are funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Occupant Protection and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
