Two Mesa County Sergeants Graduate National Jail Leadership Academy
Two detention sergeants from Mesa County completed an intensive, week-long National Jail Leadership Command Academy after a competitive selection process and extensive pre-work.
Sgt. Tate Herland and Sgt. Lara Provorse of the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office were selected by the Correctional Management Institute of Texas and the American Jail Association to attend the National Jail Leadership Command Academy and graduated as Class 56 on June 5. The week-long, interactive program—following rigorous pre-assignments—covered agency culture, leadership, collaboration, accountability, data management and self-improvement; both returned to Mesa County prepared to implement lessons and expand professional networks. Division Chief Henry Stoffel said investing in future leaders benefits the agency’s long-term success.
