Upper Providence Fire and Police Join HSS for Raksha Bandhan Observance

On Monday, representatives from Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh USA (HSS) visited the Upper Providence Township Department of Fire & Emergency Services and the UPT Police Department to observe Raksha Bandhan. HSS members tied rakhis—decorated threads symbolizing protection and goodwill—on the wrists of firefighters and police officers and shared the tradition’s meaning. After the ceremony, Fire Chief Mike Risell gave HSS members a tour of the station and apparatus bay.
