Police forced entry after finding uncollected mail; animals were removed and turned over to rescue groups while the Medical Examiner investigates.
On Aug. 15 at 3:30 p.m., Marple Police were dispatched to a home in the 2000 block of West Chester Pike for a welfare check and, with assistance from Broomall Fire Company, forced entry after finding mail uncollected and no one answering. Officers discovered a 67-year-old female deceased inside and several malnourished dogs and cats; the animals were removed and turned over to two rescue organizations. The Delaware County Office of the Medical Examiner is investigating the cause of death and assisting with family notification.
