15-Year-Old Arrested in CARTA Bus Homicide in North Charleston
North Charleston detectives, with U.S. Marshals' assistance, arrested a 15-year-old in connection with a fatal August 31 shooting on a CARTA bus on Carner Avenue.
On August 31 at about 10:41 a.m., officers responded to a CARTA bus stop on Carner Avenue and found a passenger with gunshot wounds who was later pronounced dead at the scene. On September 21, 2026, North Charleston detectives, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals, located and arrested a 15-year-old juvenile who has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime; the juvenile is being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice. Police say the investigation determined the shooting was an isolated incident between two individuals and not reflective of CARTA's overall safety.
