Austell officers shot at during traffic stop; suspects arrested

Two Austell police officers came under gunfire after attempting to stop a white truck for a tag violation; the vehicle fled and officers reported multiple rounds fired during the pursuit, a dashcam captured calls of “Shots fired.” Investigators say the shooter, identified as convicted felon Adam Hawkins, fired from the passenger seat; neither officer was injured, Cobb County and Powder Springs police helped contain the scene, and all occupants of the truck were taken into custody.
