Castle Shannon: Continued Road Construction — Weeks of Sept. 21 & 28, 2026
Multiple overnight and daytime road closures and lane restrictions are planned in Castle Shannon as contractors complete gas-line work and roadway resurfacing. Drivers should expect detours, flaggers and police at work zones and are advised to avoid affected routes if possible.
NPL, a subcontractor for Columbia Gas, will continue gas line replacements and tie-ins in the Myrtle Avenue neighborhood with lane restrictions, road closures, flaggers and police to maintain access and traffic flow. NPL will also work on Killarney Road and Sixth Street; a section of Killarney Road will be CLOSED at the tunnel from 7pm–6am Monday–Thursday on Sept. 28–Oct. 1 and Oct. 5–8, 2026, with traffic rerouted via specified local streets and Route 88. PennDOT and Mele and Mele will continue overnight resurfacing work on Library Road to finish shoulder repairs, guide rail installation and lane markings; drivers are urged to use caution or avoid these areas.
