Child safety seat checkpoint at Southside Elementary
Officers inspected every vehicle during student drop-off, installed or adjusted car seats, and issued warnings and citations.
On Sept. 23, 2026, members of the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police conducted a child safety seat checkpoint during student drop-off at Southside Elementary School, funded by the Lower Paxton Township Police Traffic Safety Grant sponsored by PennDOT and NHTSA. Officers inspected every vehicle, installed 8 car seats via certified technicians, adjusted 4 more, issued 11 written warnings for child safety seat violations, 1 equipment card for an expired inspection, and issued 2 citations to drivers operating vehicles with suspended licenses. The bureau says it will continue child safety seat checks throughout the school year to protect children in motor vehicles.
