Continued road work in Castle Shannon; Killarney Road night closures planned
Ongoing gas-line work, overnight Killarney Road closures and Library Road resurfacing will affect traffic; police and flaggers will be on site and detours will be posted.
NPL, a subcontractor for Columbia Gas, will continue gas-line replacements and tie-ins in the Myrtle Avenue neighborhood during the weeks of Sept. 21 and Sept. 28, 2026, with lane restrictions, closures, flaggers and police on site to maintain access. Killarney Road will be CLOSED at the tunnel from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday–Thursday on Sept. 28–Oct. 1 and Oct. 5–8, 2026, for drilling under the roadway; traffic will be rerouted via southbound Route 88 to Grove, Sleepy Hollow, Columbia, Maplewood, Larch, Rolling Rock, Newport, Wabash and northbound McNeilly, Pearce, Highview, Kerry Hill and Glen Shannon. PennDOT and Mele and Mele will continue overnight Library Road resurfacing work to complete shoulder repairs, guide rail installation and lane markings; drivers are urged to use caution or avoid these areas when possible.
