Gas prices rise 15 cents across Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania's average gas price rose 15 cents to $4.672 this week; the Lehigh Valley hit $4.534 per gallon, AAA reports.
While the national average for a gallon of gas dipped over the past few days, the prices at the pump are still on the rise, especially locally.
The average price for a gallon of gas is 15 cents higher in Pennsylvania this week at $4.672, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.
In the Lehigh Valley, the average price for a gallon of gas rose to $4.534 on May 11, up from $4.445 one week prior.
On May 11, 2025 the average price for a gallon of gas was $3.083.
Despite the decrease over the past couple of days, this week’s national average is still seven cents more than a week ago at $4.52, AAA said.
Pump prices are 39 cents more than a month ago and $1.39 higher than they were a year ago. Prices have not been this high since summer of 2022.
AAA said that while crude oil prices dipped below $100 per barrel amid ongoing negotiations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, gasoline prices continue to face pressure from global supply concerns.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand decreased last week from 9.10 million barrels per day to 8.81 million.
Total domestic gasoline supply decreased from 222.3 million barrels to 219.8 million. Gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.6 million barrels per day.
At the close of Wednesday’s formal trading session, West Texas Intermediate fell $ 7.19 to settle at $95.08 a barrel. The EIA reports crude oil inventories decreased by 2.3 million barrels from the previous week. At 457.2 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 1% above the five-year average for this time of year.
