Liz Matthews turns loss into dementia research and advocacy
A Lehigh student channeled a personal loss into dementia research and advocacy after a formative childhood experience.
Liz Matthews, a member of Lehigh University’s class of 2026, has translated a personal loss into work on dementia research and advocacy. In 2013 she visited Eastern State Penitentiary with her sister and father and stayed behind for ice cream while her sister explored — a moment that later helped inform her commitment to dementia-related efforts.
