Mechanicsburg juvenile sexually extorted after sending image; $100 demand
A juvenile who acknowledged their age sent an explicit image after being friended on Facebook and was then extorted for $100 with a threat to post the photo to the X app.
On September 10, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m., Mechanicsburg police were contacted after a parent reported their child had been extorted. The juvenile had been added as a friend on Facebook, sent a nude image after acknowledging their age, and was immediately told to pay $100 or the image would be posted to the X app; the suspect sent a screenshot of the threatened post. The incident (case MBG-2026-09-0493) is under investigation and police ask anyone with information to contact the department; parents are urged to monitor and discuss social media use, friend requests and the risks of sending images, and to note children under 13 cannot legally create accounts without parental permission.
