Mechanicsburg juvenile targeted in online sexual extortion
A juvenile who was added as a friend on Facebook was coerced into sending a nude photo and then extorted for $100 with a threat to post the image to X; police are investigating.
On Sept. 10, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m., Mechanicsburg police were notified by a parent that their child had been sexually extorted after being added as a friend on Facebook. The juvenile, who acknowledged their age to the sender, sent a nude photo and was immediately told to pay $100 or the image would be posted to the X app; a screenshot of the threatened post was sent. The parent reported the incident and police ask anyone with information to contact the department; parents are urged to discuss social media risks and monitor children’s accounts.
