Meteor streaks over N.J., N.Y. and Pa. at about 30,000 mph
Witnesses reported a bright flash across the sky between 2:35 p.m. and 2:40 p.m., and some said they heard a loud boom as the meteor passed.
A meteor was spotted in the sky Tuesday afternoon over parts of Pennsylvania and several other eastern states, including New Jersey and New York, according to social media posts and eyewitness reports submitted to the American Meteor Society.
First visibility of the meteor was at 48 miles above the Atlantic Ocean, off the shore of Mastic Beach on Long Island, NASA said on X Tuesday night.
