On Aug. 9, 2026, at approximately 12:45 a.m., police responded to a vehicle accident near the Newtown Bypass and Durham Road; an operator smelled of alcohol, was unable to complete field sobriety tests and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, with charges pending blood evidence results. On Aug. 10, at approximately 9:21 p.m., officers stopped a Ford Expedition on the Newtown Bypass near Lower Silver Lake Road; that operator also smelled of alcohol, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, with charges pending blood test results.
