Passion for community radio persists on the South Side

In May 2025, President Donald Trump signed Executive Order 14290, "Ending Taxpayer Subsidization of Biased Media," cutting federal funding for PBS and NPR through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. In July, Republican members of Congress passed legislation that stripped public radio of billions in additional funds; in the year since, local public radio stations on the South Side have continued to operate and serve their communities.
