Louis Sophie, 46, of Southampton Road in Philadelphia, was convicted after a waiver trial of multiple felonies and misdemeanors — including two counts of first-degree burglary, third-degree criminal trespass, simple assault, and attempted indecent assault — for a home invasion and attempted sexual assault at a Lafayette Gardens apartment on Oct. 28, 2025. Judge Wallace H. Bateman Jr. deferred sentencing pending a Sexual Offender Assessment Board evaluation. Bensalem Township Police apprehended Sophie shortly after the victim fought him off and he fled across Poquessing Creek; Deputy District Attorney Monica W. Furber prosecuted the case.
