Quarryville traffic stop leads to drug possession arrest for James L. McCarraher
A Quarryville traffic stop for equipment and inspection violations led to a search that uncovered suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, resulting in two arrests.
On August 14, 2026, at about 10:39 p.m., Quarryville Borough Police stopped a blue Ford on East State Street for defective equipment and expired inspection/emissions; the driver, James L. McCarraher, 41, was found to have a suspended license and was wanted in Florida for probation violations. Suspicious movements by the passenger prompted a search that revealed suspected methamphetamine in the passenger seat area and drug paraphernalia; both occupants were arrested and are awaiting a preliminary hearing before District Magistrate Mankin on charges including intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while operating with privilege suspended (4th or subsequent offense).
