Resident loses $5,000 in Bitcoin after PayPal email scam
Victim told $20,000 was deposited and instructed to buy $5,000 in Bitcoin after receiving a fraudulent PayPal email; investigation ongoing.
On Aug. 29, 2026 at 10:50 AM, a resident in the 600 block of Rose Hollow Dr., Yardley, reported receiving a fraudulent PayPal email and contacting someone they believed to be an FTC employee. The caller said $20,000 had been deposited into the victim's account and instructed them to purchase $5,000 in Bitcoin, which the victim did; the Lower Makefield Township Police Department says the investigation is ongoing.
