The North Charleston Police Department warns that soaring temperatures can lead to deadly heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable populations. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during peak heat (11 a.m.–3 p.m.), wear lightweight clothing and hats, stay in air-conditioned spaces, check on vulnerable neighbors, and seek immediate medical attention or call 9-1-1 for symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, headaches or muscle cramps.
