Students Return to School Aug. 19 in Chambersburg
Police warn motorists to expect increased traffic, school buses and pedestrians when classes resume Aug. 19, 2026.
The Chambersburg Police Department reminds motorists that school resumes Wednesday, August 19, 2026, throughout the Chambersburg Area School District and warns of increased traffic, school buses and pedestrians during morning and afternoon commutes. Drivers are urged to slow down in school zones and residential areas, stop for buses with flashing red lights and extended stop arms (never pass a stopped bus), and stop for pedestrians in marked crosswalks while staying alert for students near bus stops, intersections and school entrances. The department also advises motorists to avoid distractions — put the phone down — and emphasizes: slow down, stay alert, share the road and protect our kids.
