Yardley vehicle sale scam: counterfeit cashier’s check used
Seller deposited a $14,700 cashier’s check and was instructed to send a $4,200 money order to Alabama before discovering the check was fake.
On Sept. 3, 2026, Lower Makefield Township police responded to a fraud report from the 600 block of W. Melissa Cir. A seller agreed to a private vehicle sale with a buyer who claimed to be overseas and had the seller deposit a $14,700 cashier’s check. The seller was then told to send a $4,200 money order to an address in Alabama; after the check was discovered to be fraudulent the seller attempted to recover the money order. The investigation is ongoing.
