Gas prices dip below $4 in Lehigh Valley and nationally
AAA East Central: Lehigh Valley and national averages fall below $4, Pennsylvania remains just above.
As gas prices continue to drop, the national average has now joined the Lehigh Valley at below $4 a gallon, while the rest of Pennsylvania is still coming in just slightly higher than that.
According to the latest report from AAA East Central, the average price for a gallon of gas on June 22 was $3.786, down from $3.934 the week prior.
While still above the $4 mark, the average price for a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania is 12 cents lower this week at $4.092.
For the first time since mid-March, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is down to $3.92.
This marks nearly four straight weeks of declines. AAA said Crude oil prices continue to fall as the U.S. and Iran work on a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Sliding gas prices come as millions of Americans prepare to travel for Independence Day in what is expected to be record numbers starting next weekend.
Today’s national average is 63 cents less than a month ago but 71 cents more than a year ago.
