Matthew Wetzel charged with meth and Xanax possession after casino parking lot incident
Police say a man found unconscious in a Hollywood Casino Morgantown parking lot consented to a vehicle search that uncovered methamphetamine and Xanax pills; charges were filed.
On July 20, 2025, Officer Samuel Frank responded to a report of an unconscious person in a vehicle at Hollywood Casino Morgantown and located 36-year-old Matthew Wetzel in the driver’s seat. A consented search uncovered a used glass pipe, a jar with a crystalline substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, and a jar containing one-and-a-half pills labeled “XANAX.” Wetzel was charged August 18, 2026 with TITLE 35 780-113(A)(16) possession of a controlled substance and TITLE 35 780-113(A)(32) possession of drug paraphernalia; all are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
