Mechanicsburg: Vehicle stolen overnight; two cars entered
An unlocked vehicle with its key fob inside was stolen overnight on Sept. 8, 2026; two other unlocked cars on West Maplewood Avenue were entered. The stolen vehicle was recovered in Lower Paxton Township and juveniles were taken into custody.
On Sept. 8, 2026, Mechanicsburg police received reports of a motor vehicle theft from the 400 block of South High Street and two thefts from vehicles parked in the 200 and 300 blocks of West Maplewood Avenue. All vehicles were unlocked and the stolen car’s key fob was left inside; the vehicle was located in Lower Paxton Township early Sept. 9, where a pursuit ended and several juveniles from Harrisburg addresses were taken into custody. Lower Paxton Township police will handle recovery charges and file them with Dauphin County Juvenile Probation; Mechanicsburg police reminded residents to lock vehicles and remove valuables.
