Volunteer to help test indoor navigation app at Good Shepherd Rehab
Lehigh University and Good Shepherd Rehabilitation seek adult volunteers to test a smartphone-based indoor navigation app at Hyland Center to improve accessible wayfinding in healthcare facilities.
Lehigh University and Good Shepherd Rehabilitation are helping to develop a smartphone-based indoor navigation app designed to help everyone — regardless of ability — navigate and explore healthcare facilities more independently and efficiently. Your feedback will help shape the future of accessible navigation in healthcare facilities.
The research study is located at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation – Hyland Center, 850 South 5th Street, Allentown. The study requires in-person participation only.
Interested participants must fill out the study form first.
This study has been approved by the Lehigh University Institutional Review Board (IRB#2193447-5).
Research Study Eligibility
We welcome individuals of all abilities and backgrounds who:
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Are not already familiar with the entire layout of Hyland Center
- Can move independently without human assistance, with or without a mobility aid
- Can provide informed consent
- Feel comfortable using a smartphone
- Are comfortable either holding a phone upright or wearing a neck mount that holds the phone
Participation Commitments
- Participate in a study session up to 3 hours using the smartphone-based navigation app to navigate and explore inside Hyland Center
- Provide feedback through a short survey or interview
Compensation
- Participants will receive a $30 gift card for participation in this study
