Pennsylvania adds AI-generated child porn and hazing to mandatory reporting law
Gov. Josh Shapiro signed a bill expanding Pennsylvania’s mandatory reporting law to require reports of AI-created child pornography and hazing after high-profile Lancaster County cases.
Gov. Josh Shapiro signed a bill that closes gaps in Pennsylvania’s mandatory reporting law by requiring mandated reporters caring for children to file timely reports in cases involving artificially generated child pornography and hazing. Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams urged the change after an incident involving AI-altered images of students and separate hazing allegations at Manheim Central High School revealed reporting gaps. The law clarifies the definition of child abuse, directs school and medical staff to notify supervisors and cooperate with investigations, and was sponsored by Rep. Nikki Rivera and Sen. Scott Martin.
