South Heidelberg Police Joins Blue Envelope Program to Aid Drivers with Disabilities
Blue Envelopes identify drivers with disabilities to officers and include ID and emergency contact information to improve traffic-stop safety and communication.
The South Heidelberg Township Police Department is participating in the Blue Envelope Program to enhance communication and support for drivers with disabilities during traffic stops. The program provides motorists a Blue Envelope that signals to officers the driver may have autism or other conditions that can cause anxiety or communication challenges; the envelope should contain the driver’s license, vehicle registration, current insurance card and an emergency contact, and can be picked up at the police department.
