Mesa County arrests include alleged shooting, deputy assault and child abuse
Three separate incidents in Mesa County on Sept. 22–23 resulted in arrests for an alleged shooting at a protected party, an assault on a deputy with related lewd and vandalism acts, and a child-abuse report tied to drug paraphernalia.
On Sept. 22 deputies responded south of Whitewater after a hiker reported voices and gunshots; Joshua Aarness, 45, of Clifton was later arrested on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges — including two counts of first-degree assault for allegedly pointing and shooting at a protected party — and is held on a $100,000 cash-only bond. On Sept. 23 Angelo Holcomb, 41, of Grand Junction allegedly struck a deputy (who was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries), damaged property and committed indecent exposure; he remains in custody on a $10,000 cash-only bond. Later that evening Taleah Beltran, 30, was arrested near her home with a small child and booked on misdemeanor child-abuse and paraphernalia charges, held on a $1,000 PR bond; the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office reminded residents that domestic violence can escalate and to report incidents immediately.
