Resident scammed after calling number in computer virus message
Complainant called a number shown in a computer virus message and sent $53,000 before recognizing the call as a scam.
On Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 4:34 p.m., Lower Makefield Township Police reported a fraud on the 1700 block of Mulberry Way in Yardley. The complainant received a computer virus message, called the number provided and an unknown male requested $53,000, which was sent; the caller then attempted to have the victim send $173,000 before the victim realized it was a scam.
